Obituary for Olimpia Ruela

Olimpia  Ruela
Naugatuck, CT Olimpia Ruela, 90, the widow of Jose Ruela, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2015 in the VITAS Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Ruela was born on March 13, 1925 in Murtosa, Portugal a daughter of the late Manuel Rebimbas and Ana Tavares Rebimbas, and had lived in Naugatuck for most of her life. Mrs. Ruela was a retired employee of the Naugatuck Glass Company and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
Mrs. Ruela is survived by her son, Jose C. Ruela and his wife Ana (Cardoso) Ruela of Naugatuck; her granddaughter, Jennifer Flach of Naugatuck; her grandson, Joey Ruela and his fiancée Mary Dart of Naugatuck; her great grandchildren, Sabrina, Lily and Christopher; her sister, Benedita Oliveira of Naugatuck and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Jose, Mrs. Ruela was predeceased by her brothers, Isidro Fonseca, Jose Fonseca and Antonio Fonseca and her sisters, Maria do Rosario and Elvira DaSilva.
Mrs. Ruela’s family would like to thank the staff at Abbott Terrace Health Center and VITAS at St. Mary’s Hospital for the wonderful care that they provided.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 10:15am from the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, to Our Lady of Fatima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Burial will be in Monte Murtosa, Portugal. Calling hours are Monday, December 21, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home. Contributions to honor Olimpia’s memory may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury, CT 06706.
