Ray Greenwood the Man
This page is not big enough to tell the story of Ray Greenwood, as member of sheet metal workers local #40 I first met ray while working for G.R.Cummings in Merriden, they sent me to the big underground AT&T job in Cheshire run by Don shea, a tough dirty job but with a guy like Ray we got the job done, years later I met up with him at Ct Yankee then millstone, all were dangerous jobs, but ray would not send you on a job he wouldn't do himself. when I first walked into the shop at millstone I couldn't believe it, (this was before they built the cafeteria) Ray was cooking delicious roast dinners for all the guys in these welding rod ovens, How ingenious, what a cook, in many ways millstone was like a MASH camp on TV, but having a boss like Ray made the long hours go fast, he could be tough, but fare, he always looked after the guys, always something going on to laugh about, never a dull moment, Ray was not just the boss he was a Man you could talk to,he would listen, Even the top brass at millstone if they needed anything,go see Greenwood, and yes Ray could laugh at himself even if the joke was on him. His dry humor was infectious, they just don't make guys like Ray Greenwood anymore, he will be missed.
