Naugatuck, CT Concetta “Connie” (Gallucci) Mengacci, 98, the widow of Adam T. Mengacci, died peacefully on August 8, 2018 at Middlebury Convalescent Home.

Connie was born in Naugatuck, CT on March 1, 1920 a daughter of the late Gennaro and Gaetana (Trinca) Gallucci and was a lifelong Naugatuck resident. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who loved her family deeply and unconditionally. Connie retired from Peter Paul, where she had worked for many years and from 1957-1961 she proudly served as Naugatuck’s First Lady during her husband’s two terms as Mayor.

Connie is survived by her sons, Joseph A. Mengacci and his wife Kathleen; James A. Mengacci and his former wife, Leslie and John A. Mengacci and his former wife, Reina Altieri; her grandchildren, Adam J. Mengacci and his wife, Halley; Paul J. Mengacci and his wife, Cara; James A. Mengacci, Jr. and Michael R. Mengacci; her great granddaughters, Ella and Mia Mengacci and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including her devoted niece, Dolores Evans. In addition to her parents and her husband, Connie was predeceased by her brothers, Alfred, John, Eliseo and Pasquale Gallucci and her sister, Fannie Gallucci.

Connie’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and at Middlebury Convalescent Home for the exceptional care that they provided.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00am at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck. Everyone is kindly asked to please meet at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Sunday from 2-5pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Connie’s memory, contributions can be made to the St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation, 56 Franklin Street, Waterbury, CT 06706.
