Obituary for Angela R. Taylor (Presto)

Angela R. Taylor (Presto)
Angela Hackett Taylor
Loving mother, grandmother, GG, friend

Angela Rose (Presto) (Hackett) Taylor earned her angel wings on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. She died as she lived, with tremendous strength and a desire for peace. We are happy that she has found peace in the arms of Jesus and the loves of her life who were waiting in heaven to greet her.

Angie was born on June 26, 1936 in Waterbury, the free-spirited daughter of the late John Presto and Josephine (Frenis) Presto. She graduated from Naugatuck High School in 1954, married Jack Hackett on April 2, 1956, and began her life as a military wife and mother until his death in 1960. Angie raised their two children, Kimberly and John on her own until she married the late Bobbie Ray Taylor on February 24, 1965. The family expanded with the birth of Duane and Jennifer, and Angie enjoyed her life as a stay-at-home Mom until she joined the Naugatuck Human Resource Development Agency as a receptionist in the mid seventies. She retired from her job in 2001, and began subbing as a paraprofessional in the Naugatuck Public Schools, and serving as a Town Hall greeter. Each of her jobs, stay-at-home Mom, receptionist, sub, and greeter suited her outgoing personality and her love for children. Angie was also known for her long walks along New Haven Road, during which she waved at cars and school buses, and spoke with whomever she encountered along her three mile route. Angie enjoyed spending time with her numerous friends, sunbathing while reading a good book, and, most of all, playing with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Her games with the kids consisted of doing whatever they wished, whenever.

Left behind to enjoy her memory are her children, Kimberly Gallo and her husband Thomas, Duane Taylor and his wife Kathryn (Smith), and Jennifer Olson and her husband Gary. Her grandchildren Sarah Gallo, Adam Gallo and his wife Kimberly (Calandro) and their daughters Abigail and Lucy, Michael Gallo and his wife Lindsay (Witkoski), Michaela Hackett, Taylor Olson, and Kelsi Olson. Her sisters, Anna Paige and her husband John, Virginia Taylor, and Mary Ann Pinto and her husband Joseph. Her companion and travel partner Earl Douty, her cat Kika, and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.

She will be greeted in heaven by her son John Hackett, her grandson Ryan Olson, and her other many loved ones. She leaves behind enough stories to keep her memory alive for many, many years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 9:30am at St. Hedwig Church, 32 Golden Hill St. Union City, Naugatuck. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 6 pm on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers, to honor Angie’s life and to thank the staff at St. Francis Hospital for their care, donations can be made to: The St. Francis Foundation, 95 Woodland Street, 2nd Floor Hartford, CT 06105
