Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (Canaperi) Tremaglio, 87, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2018 at St Mary’s Hospital following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Angelo Tremaglio for 49 years, prior to his passing in 2001.

Born May 1, 1930 in Waterbury, Betty was the oldest of nine children born to the late Harold and Pauline (Fratesi) Canaperi. She was a graduate of Naugatuck High School and was employed by U. S. A woman of devout faith, she was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and in her later years, Blessed Sacrament Church in Waterbury. Betty found great joy in her later years volunteering with her sister Virginia at the Waterbury Hospital gift shop where she made many new friends. Betty loved to cook, bake, crochet and travel with her sisters. She was a dedicated fan of the UCONN women’s basketball team rarely missing a game.

Leaving to cherish her memory are her four children; Dr. Ralph and JoAnn Tremaglio of Southbury, Thomas and Teressa Tremaglio of Lake Worth Florida, Diane and John Wynne of Glastonbury, and Elizabeth and Charles Ward of Boca Raton Florida. She adored her seven grandchildren, Daniel, Joseph, Cristina, Marcus, and Lauren Tremaglio and Andrew and Samuel Wynne as well as her two great grandchildren, James and Lydia Tremaglio.

She is also survived by her three sisters, Virginia Paolino, Linda (Michael) Favale, and Lorraine (James) Thibodeau, one brother, John (Cheryl) Canaperi, sisters-in-law, Sally Canaperi and Theresa Corcoran as well as brothers in law, Harvey Piazza, Caesar (Ann) Tremaglio, Anthony (Jeanne) Tremaglio, and Dr. Vincent (Cindy) Tremaglio and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Betty was predeceased by her husband Angelo, two sisters, Doris DiStefano and Carol Piazza, and two brothers, Harold Canaperi and Donald Canaperi, four brothers-in-law, Ralph Tremaglio, Neil Tremaglio, Robert Paolino and Eugene Santa Lucia; and sisters-in-law, Emma Santa Lucia, Alba Tremaglio and Norene Tremaglio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins Street in Waterbury.
