Naugatuck, CT Barbara H. Schwartz Dotts, 77, the widow of Richard J. Schwartz, Sr. and Richard Dotts, and beloved mother and grandmother died peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Autumn Lakes in Waterbury.

Barbara was born on October 5, 1939 in Waterbury, CT a daughter of the late John Joseph Hoben and Marion (Butler) Hoben and had lived in Naugatuck for most of her life. She was the former Tax Collector and Welfare Director in Naugatuck for many years.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Richard J. Schwartz, Jr. and his wife Caroline and Robert Schwartz and his wife Donna; her daughters, Barbara Edmonds and her husband Jim, Donna Schwartz and Lynn Minter and her husband Brendan; her grandchildren, Robert, Jr, Jamie Lynn, Nathaniel, Max, Colin and Maggie, her great-grandchildren, Tristan and Aryiah; her brother, John Hoben and his wife Jane; her sisters, Marion Cooksley and Sandra Goodman and her husband Roger; her brothers and sisters-in-law Suzie and Margie Hoben, Mark, Chris, Shirley, Larry, Pat, and Nancy Schwartz, and many nieces and nephews. Barbara was also predeceased by her brothers, Richard and Bruce Hoben and her sister, Suzanne Hinchey, and brother-in-law Howard Schwartz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Those attending are asked to please meet directly at Church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Wednesday from 6-8pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
