John Joseph  McGee Sr.
Naugatuck, CT John Joseph McGee, Sr., 87, the husband of the late Clara M. McGee, and husband of Barbara J. McGee, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016 in the VITAS Innovative Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital.

John was born on October 15, 1929 in Bridgeport, CT a son of the late Clarence and Marguerite (Cassin) McGee. After high school John joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served during the Korean War. John worked for many years at Farrell Foundry in Ansonia, and also worked for and retired from Sikorsky Aircraft. John served his community as a volunteer Firefighter with the Hilltop Hose Co. in Ansonia and the Citizens Engine Co. in Seymour. John was a member of the Oxford American Legion Post 174, and the VFW Crusader Post 1946 in Naugatuck. John was an avid NY Giants and Boston Red Sox fan, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife Barbara, John is survived by his daughters, Nancy L. Gray and her husband Gordon, of Groveton, NH; Penny J. Turner and her husband Richard, of North Port, FL; his son, John J. McGee, Jr. and his wife Cyndi, of Oxford, CT; his 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; his step children and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife Clara, his second wife Ina and his parents, John was predeceased by his sisters, Helen Bennett and Margaret Varrone.

John’s family would like to thank his caretaker Linda Airline, for the wonderful care that she provided.

A Funeral Service celebrating John’s Life will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 11:00am at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery, Cedar Street, Seymour. Calling hours are Monday from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the funeral home. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will assemble at the funeral home Monday at 6:30pm.
