Naugatuck, CT Richard T. McDonald, 62, died peacefully on Friday, April 29, 2016 in the VITAS Hospice Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital after a brief struggle with cancer.
Richard was born on October 17, 1953 in Waterbury, CT a son of the late William and Lillian (Greenwood) McDonald and had lived in Naugatuck for the past 30 years. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and he enjoyed sports, playing golf and cooking for family and friends.
Richard is survived by his siblings Joan Corsino, Lois Cash, Victoria Joray, Ann Spardone and Bruce McDonald. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings Patricia LePine, John McDonald and William McDonald Jr.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 10:00am at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Friends may call Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will assemble Thursday at 6:30pm at the funeral home.
