Obituary for Lucien L. "Lou" Pratte

Lucien L. "Lou"  Pratte
Naugatuck, CT Lucien L. “Lou” Pratte, 87, passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2015. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy R. (Syrene) Pratte.

Born in Wauregan, CT, on March 4, 1928, he was the son of the late Henry and Dora (Gibeault) Pratte and had lived in Naugatuck for the past 58 years.

Lou was a proud World War II United States Marine Corps veteran having served in China. Lou retired from Sikorsky Aircraft and he enjoyed camping at Brialee in Ashford, CT, his trips to the casino and UCONN Women’s Basketball.

Lou was a member of the V.F.W. Crusader Post 1946, Catholic War Veterans Gold Star Post, American Legion Post 17, the Sikorsky Friendship Club and he was also a life member of the B.P.O. Elks # 967.

Lou is survived by three daughters, Pattie Hein and her husband Bob of Naugatuck, Dr. Lori Johnson and her husband Dennis of Massachusetts and Susie Pratte of Naugatuck; a sister, Veronica Mathurin of Brooklyn, CT; seven grandchildren, Jason DaSilva, Laura DaSilva, Lisa Gentile, Wesley Johnson, Alisa Johnson, Michael Jenness and Rachael Jenness; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Lou was predeceased by his daughter, Sandy Pratte, his brother, Adrian Pratte and his two sisters, Lucille Lafreniere and Pauline Weaver.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to everyone who cared for Lou, especially the staff of Athena Home Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will assemble at the funeral home, Tuesday at 7:15 pm. Members of the Naugatuck Elks Lodge will perform a ritual at the funeral home, Tuesday at 7:45 pm.

To honor Lou’s memory, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 17, Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation (VA&R) Fund, 21 Cedar Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd., Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
