NAUGATUCK — Albert W. Burt, 86, formerly of Naugatuck, husband of the late Catherine A. (Triano) Burt, died peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at Saint Mary's Hospital.

Albert was born April 11, 1928, in Seymour, a son of the late George and Nellie (Finkle) Burt, and attended schools in Seymour. Albert was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather, who loved family gatherings, fishing and reading.

Albert was a proud World War II United States Army Air Forces veteran. He formerly worked at the footwear division of Uniroyal Inc. for 27 years, and the Mattatuck Manufacturing Company for eight years.

Albert is survived by his son, James Burt and his wife, Jean, of Florida; his three daughters, Diane Chase and her husband, Ronald, of Plainville, Katherine (Karter) Helman and her husband, Bruce, of East Liverpool, Ohio, and Mary Ellen Rosa of Wolcott; two sisters, Gladys Malasankas of Oxford, and Evelyn Bernier of Seymour; eight grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Burt was predeceased by his grandson, Gregory Albert Chase.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at St. Mary's Church, 338 North Main St. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will assemble at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
