Obituary for Muriel Longo

Muriel  Longo
NAUGATUCK, CT Muriel (Happy) Longo, 94, of Naugatuck, the widow of Edward J. Longo, died peacefully Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Glendale Center.

Muriel was born February 20, 1920 in Naugatuck, the youngest daughter of the late Alphonse and Louise (Baummer) Happy, and was a lifelong Naugatuck resident. Muriel was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who loved spending time with her family. Muriel loved to sing, and at a young age, she sang locally and throughout New England, performing with her sisters, Olive and Stella and her brother Joe, as “The Happy Sisters and Brother Joe”.

Muriel is survived by her daughter and son in law, Shirley and Bill Stopper of Naugatuck, her son and daughter in law, Ed and Denise Longo of Irvine, CA and her son and daughter in law, Ron and Roberta Longo of Naugatuck, her brother in law, Louis Carosella of Waterbury, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Muriel was predeceased by her seven siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Church. 338 North Main Street. Friends and relatives may call Saturday from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue. To honor Muriel’s memory, contributions may be made to Glendale Center, Recreation Department, 4 Hazel Avenue, Naugatuck, CT 06770 or to St. Mary’s Church, 338 North Main Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770.
