Obituary for Tessie Ashe

NAUGATUCK, CT Tessie (Petriszyn) Ashe, 94, the widow of Earl W. Ashe, died peacefully Thursday evening at Glendale Center with loving family by her side.

Tessie was born in Seymour, CT on October 4, 1920, a daughter of the late Wasil and Mary Petriszyn and had lived in Naugatuck most of her life. Tessie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who especially enjoyed sewing and cooking. Earlier in her life, Tessie worked at the footwear division of Uniroyal, Inc., and was also a member of the Russian Art Club. Tessie was an avid New York Yankees and UCONN basketball fan.

Tessie is survived by her daughter Claudette and son in law Thomas, her daughters Cynthia, Denise and Marlene, her son Thomas, 11 grandchildren; including Tom and his wife Sue, Kristie and her husband Craig and Erin, many great grandchildren; including Tyler, Connor and Angelia, and many nieces and nephews. Tessie was predeceased by her sisters; Anna Gallucci and Julia Wasdo and her brother Harry Petriszyn.

The family would like to thank Tessie’s caregivers; especially Rosa, Theresa and all the visiting nurses from New England Home Care, for the excellent care that they provided.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 10:00am at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue.
