Obituary for Stephen J. Rimkus Sr.

Stephen J.  Rimkus Sr.
Naugatuck-Stephen J. Rimkus, Sr., 56, life long resident of Naugatuck passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 30, 2013, at Griffin Hospice Center after a long illness. Born December 19, 1956 in Waterbury, he was the youngest son of the late John Rimkus and Mary (Kloc) Rimkus of Naugatuck.

Steve graduated from Naugatuck High School in 1974. After Many years of training and working for his dad, as an auto body repair man, he became co-owner of Rimkus Auto Body in Naugatuck. Steve enjoyed his work and always went that extra mile to satisfy his customers. He was also employed by Hudson Valley Cable Corporation, New York, for several years. Steve loved entertaining his family and friends at his summer picnic and pool parties. He was a great Billiard player and golfer. He also enjoyed gardening and watching the UCONN Huskies basket ball games, but, his greatest joy over the last several years was seeing his two grandchildren, Aiden and Brooke.

In addition to his mother, Steve is survived by his son, Stephen Rimkus, Jr. of Naugatuck, a daughter, Rachel Newman and her husband Brian of Naugatuck, his sister, Marilyn Ranaudo and her husband Patrick of Woodbury, a brother, John M Rimkus and his wife Diane of Florida. He also leaves his nephews, Patrick, Jeff and David Ranaudo and Nieces Jennifer Rimkus and Laura King, also several aunts, uncles, and cousins-and his very devoted friend, Terry Raimo.

He was predeceased by his brother Richard and his dad John Rimkus.

Special thanks to family members and friends, the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale and the Griffin Hospital and Gardner Heights for all the love and encouragement that you always gave Steve.

The funeral will be held on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St, Naugatuck. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave, Naugatuck on Sunday evening from 5-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Smilow Cancer Hospital, Head and Neck Cancer Program Fund, Office of Development, PO Box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508.
