PROSPECT - Thomas Edward Gibbons, 69, passed away on March, 1, 2013, at Abbott Terrace Health Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Margaret (Marrinan) Gibbons.

Mr. Gibbons was born on Sept. 14, 1943, in Ireland, a son of the late James Gibbons and Mary (Dooney) Gibbons. He ran his own business, Finak, for many years and then retired from Valspar Inc. where he worked as Technical Sales Director at the end of his career. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a collector for St. Anthony's Church for eight years.

Thomas was a true family man in every sense and enjoyed Sunday gatherings at his house.

Besides his wife of Prospect, he is survived by his daughter, Mary Myers and her husband, Michael, of Simsbury; two sons, Kevin Gibbons and his wife, Dawn, of Canton and Brian Gibbons and his wife, Kristine, of Wolcott; three sisters, Angela Davis of Ireland, Gabrielle Hackman and Geraldine Power, both of Pennsylvania. He will also be missed by his eight grandchildren, Molly, Maggie and Tommy Gibbons, Conor, Emma and Riley Gibbons, Grace and Gavin Myers, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gibbons' family would like to thank Dr. Drew Edwards, the staff at Abbott Terrace and everyone else who gave such special care to Thomas during his time of need.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect, to St. Anthony's Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
