Camille B.  Testa (Battistrada)






Camille B. Testa, age 97, of Waterbury, daughter of the late Agnes (Tiso) and James Battistrada died peacefully at VITAS Hospice at St. Mary's Hospital on January 19, 2012. Camille was born on March 18, 1914, the widow of Anthony C. Testa. A longtime resident of Pierpont Rd she is survived by two children, Frank M. Testa and his wife Sandy of Plantsville, CT and Diana T. Place and her husband Frank of Mt. Carmel, CT. She is also survived by a brother, Anthony Battistrada of Waterbury and predeceased by two other brothers, Silvio Battistrada of Waterbury and John Battistrada of Brooksville, FL. She leaves two nieces Andrea C. Testa of Boston, MA and Cathy T. King and her husband Mark of Mt. Carmel, CT and their twin daughters Ava and Kyla King. Also several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins and friends.



Camille began her career in 1935 at Uniroyal in Naugatuck in the Styling Dept. designing fashion footwear in Product Development. She also worked in Public Relations in the Publicity Dept. creating charts for productivity and producing a monthly flier called "Nauginotes". In later years she worked part-time at Worths,GFox and Filenes Dept Stores.



She did volunteer work for the YMCA, the Redcross and the Cancer Society (Daffodil Days)...She was a member of the Columbiettes and spent many of her retirement years as an active member of the Waterbury Naturalist Club which she enjoyed immensely. She had a life-long talent for art excelling in watercolors, oriental brushwork and calligraphy. She enjoyed gardening and crafts and above all her family whom she motivated and inspired and loved her dearly.



The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Glendale Center for their outstanding care and support for mother and extend a thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Mary's and most recently the exceptional staff at the VITAS Hospice at St. Mary's Hospital.



The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 4 Union City Rd, Prospect. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 26, Waterbury Rd, Rte 69, Prospect on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
